Physics is the rulebook the whole universe runs on — and some of those rules are stranger than any fiction. The very small

  1. An atom is about 99.9999999% empty space. If you removed all the gap between the nucleus and its electrons, the entire human race would fit inside a sugar cube.
  2. You have never actually touched anything. When your hand “touches” a table, the electrons in your skin and the electrons in the wood repel each other. What you feel as solidity is electromagnetic force, not contact.
  3. Light has no mass, yet it pushes. Sunlight exerts a tiny but real pressure — enough that engineers build solar sails a spacecraft can “sail” on with no fuel.
